The prize is £500, kindly funded by Kantian Review. The normal expectation is that the winning entry should also be published in Kantian Review, subject to editorial review.

• Essays may be on any topic on or clearly relating to Kant’s philosophy.
• Essays should be between 6000 and 8000 words, including notes, not including bibliography.
• All submissions should be in English.
• Each article should be submitted with an abstract of 80-100 words.
• Submissions should be prepared for blind review, and submitted along with a separate document containing essay title, author, affiliation (if relevant), contact details, and a brief statement of eligibility for the prize.

To be eligible to apply, authors should be within 5 years of the award of their doctoral degree at the date of the submission deadline, 30th June 2026. (This may be adjusted accordingly to make allowances for career breaks, such as parental leave or sick leave.)

Authors should also either be affiliated with a UK Higher Education Institution (e.g., a current or graduated doctoral student, a current academic employee) or a member of the UK Kant Society. (Inclusive “or”).
